Nazca Lines ToursThis page is under construction. Please pardon the inconvenience. Many people consider Nazca Lines tours to be one of the unmissable experiences of a Peruvian vacation. For travellers who are interested in historical mysteries, the Nazca Lines are a must-see activity. However, in order to be truly appreciated, the Nazca Lines must be seen from the air. From several thousand feet, their huge scale can be understood, and the viewer is filled with a sense of awe and respect for the ancient Nazca tribe that created these works of art. This website is a list of the four different flight options we offer, as well as Nazca Lines tour packages, which include flights and transportation.Brief Description of the Nazca Lines:The Nazca Lines are a set of ancient geoglyphs found in the Nazca Desert in Peru. In 1994, they were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site . The high, dry Nazca plains stretch more than 80 kilometres between the dusty desert towns of Nazca and Palpa , about 400 km south of Lima. Archaeologists believe the Nazca Lines were created by the Nazca culture between 400 and 650 AD. The Nazca Lines are superficial lines dug into the ground by removing the normal reddish pebbles that cover the Nazcan desert, to reveal the white-colored ground found below. Some of the lines are geometric patterns, while others are zoomorphic designs of animals, birds, fish, as well as humans. The largest designs are as big as 200 meters across. Scientists are unsure of how or why they were created, but most legitimate scholars attribute a religious significance to the lines. Due to the dry, windless climate of the Nazcan pampas (relatively free of rain, over thousands of years) the lines have been preserved. In fact, the biggest threat to the stability of the lines is human interference; in some locations, cars and vans have been driven over the lines, damaging them. The cost of this tour depends on the type of bus you are looking for. For backpackers, we work with the bus company Soyuz, whose tickets cost around $12 USD for the 7 hour bus ride! For those travellers who demand a higher level of comfort and security, we prefer to offer tickets with Cruz del Sur. This can be a very affordable way to see the Nazca Lines. However, this tour has a big disadvantage: the journey from Lima to Nazca is 7 hours long. So if you travel from Lima to Nazca and Nazca back to Lima in one day, you will spend 14 hours on the bus. We recommend you stay at least one night in Nazca.
